If it's still messed up after that, then idk what to tell you. It gets rid of bad files, and redownloads the good version of those files through the auto-update feature. It shouldn't delete any mods you have, so don't worry about that. This will make sure that the files are the way they were supposed to be. If it's still messing up, even though you got rid of the mod you KNOW is the problem, then go to your Steam library, right click on l4d2 in the left column, go to properties, local files, and verify the integrity of the game cache.
